The Upstairs Arts Space is a gallery, performance venue, and meeting space dedicated to the visual, performing, and psychic arts.  Having supported emerging artists in Central Ohio since 2014, we are hosting our first themed exhibition this June on the topic of Exceptional Experiences.

Exceptional Experiences (ExEs) are spontaneous anomalous experiences of the psychic, mystical, encounter, and death-related type. They may be transcendent or mystical, and often have the potential to be transformative, depending on how the experiencer relates to their own experience or what they do with it.  For a listing of types of ExEs, see http://www.ehe.org/display/ehe-pagedc08.html?ID=3

Please join this exhibition by submitting works that were inspired by your own ExEs.  There is no submission fee.  20% of sales will be donated to the Parapsychological Association 60^th Year Archive Project  – an effort to digitize tens of thousands of pages of scientific and scholarly research on parapsychological topics and release them to the public.

Submissions are due by May 16^th.  We are looking primarily for 2D work, though we may have the space to accommodate 3D work in special circumstances.  Eligible media include drawing, painting, pastel, printmaking, photography, digital art, and mixed-media works. Submit image(s) and a description of the ExEs that inspired them (please no more than 500 words) to annalisa@publicparapsychology.org.

Pieces cannot exceed 40 inches along any side, including the frame, if applicable.   Work accepted for exhibition must be ready to hang and include all necessary hardware (no saw tooth hangers).  Framed work must use plastic or Plexiglass; frames over 12” with glass will NOT be accepted for hanging.

Opening Reception: Sunday, June 4^th 2-5pm

Drop Off: Friday, June 2^nd 12-7pm at the Upstairs Arts Space
