Sporting the traditional power trio instrumentation of drums, bass and guitar, Christopher Whitney’s Rockin’ Trio is just your typical run of the mill garagepsyche-doomfunk-postpunk-glamabilly-jamband. Like the mighty Minotaur, this Columbus, Ohio-based trio haunts a maze of nostalgia, punctuated with B-movie images of rubber monsters, hot rods and repressed teenage sexuality exploding into violence. They’ll serve you up a slice of big, dumb classic rock sensibilities baked in the oven of 70′s FM radio and drizzled with hints of Link Wray, Wanda Jackson, The Meters, Ultimate Spinach, the Cramps, Electric Wizard and just about any other ultra-hip influence you can imagine.

Rock and Roll Injection is a 7″ Rockin’ Trio single produced using purely analog methods at Musicol Recording Studios – one of the few places left where you can record, mix, master and press your records all under one roof! We’ll be joining forces with artist Elisha Marie of Free Soul Expressions to host a vinyl release party and artist reception honoring Elisha’s first solo exhibition at the Upstairs Arts Space.

Elisha Marie is a Circleville, Ohio resident absolutely entranced by an abstract art style called fluid painting, falling in love with the process and results of this medium – finding balance between surrender and control, a mirror of our experience with this life as we must let go of our expectations and attachments to an outcome and look at the bigger picture. Each color is an experience or an emotion that intertwine and flow into each other in such a way that creates a beautiful painting you would never expect if you only looked at the colors individually.

The Upstairs Arts Space is located in the Beechwold Building at Sheffield and High (next to Beechwold Hardware). Enjoy the off street parking, and look for the stairs behind the stone facade.
